Overview
Do you wish you could write more clearly and effectively enhancing your opportunities in the job market? Do you worry that your resume or job applications don’t convey your abilities and experience as well as you wish they did?
Our writing is one of the first things a prospective employer sees from us. Whether or not we make a positive impact can have a lot to do with the words we put on paper. Writing clear, organized sentences free from grammatical, punctuation, and spelling errors can determine whether or not we get an interview.
If you would like to improve these skills in your job search process, this class will provide you with some basic strategies for minimizing mistakes and making you more confident in your abilities to express yourself clearly and effectively.
What You'll Learn
You will learn how to write clear, effective sentences. How to target your resume to fit specific job titles. Analyze job descriptions to determine key vocabulary, skills, and experience that you can include in your resume and/or cover letter in order to get the attention of the hiring managers.
This course will:
- include strategies for writing effective sentences and paragraphs
- expand student vocabulary for writing and speaking
- develop skills that help students overcome their intimidation of writing
